Four Day Class
Welcome back to Preschool! The month of September will be a very busy time for the children in "Teddy Bear Junction". Focus will be placed on developing new friendships as we participate in numerous fun activities which include baking a "friendship cake" and making a class "friendship quilt". Our very first "Beary Special Student" will also be selected. Our "All About Me/Family" unit will include self-portraits, personal interviews and learning personal information (telephone #, address, birthday, etc.). During our "apples unit", the children will participate in counting, sorting, graphing and cooking activities. Our unit will end with a Birthday Celebration for Johnny Appleseed! Letter study for the month will include Mm, Ff and Aa,.

Three Day Class
We are looking forward to an exciting new Preschool year in the 3-day class! We have a terrific bunch of boys and girls this year!! September will begin with a study of colors. Making a color booklet, mixing primary colors and color learning centers will all be part of the fun. We will also emphasize recognizing color words. Reviewing shapes will be another area of focus for us this month. We will go on a "Shape Scavenger Hunt" and bring in shapes from home to share with the class. There's fun to be had when we enjoy a "Shape Snack" and perform the "Shape Hokey Pokey". September will end with a Johnny Appleseed Birthday celebration. We will use apples for tasting, graphing, painting, sorting and cooking. On Sept. 26th we'll celebrate Johnny Appleseed's birthday, we will wear pots on our heads and plant our apple seeds. Each Friday will be our Letter Show and Tell. Our letters for this month will be Cc, Ss and Aa. We will practice writing these letters and learning the letter sounds.

Two Day Class
It's hard to believe summer is almost over! We have been busy getting ready for another year. We're excited to get started with our new "cool class". For our letter A study, we will be tasting red, green and yellow apples. After deciding which apple we like best, we will graph everyone favorite. Do you know what's inside an apple? We'll find out! Also, we'll be busy sorting, stamping and making an apple tree. In our letter B study, we'll have fun painting with a balloon and blowing bubbles. For show and tell, the class will bring something from home that begins with the letter B. For our Teddy Bear Unit the children will bring a Teddy Bear to school on Tuesday. We'll talk about how the bears area alike and different, small and large. The Teddy Bears will spend the night at school and on Thursday we'll have a Teddy Bear Picnic with them. Making a Teddy Bear to bring home will be lots of fun too. The last week of Sept. we'll talk about signs of fall and what some animals do to get ready for winter. To decorate our room, we'll be making pretty fall leaves and acorns. We have a pumpkin to paint and we'll make a pumpkin to decorate for our bulletin board.
