Week Two - Day ONE: The God Who Sees Me

READ: GENESIS 16

TODAY'S FOCUS: Genesis16:7
The Lord’s messenger found Hagar at a spring in the desert, the spring on the road to Shur...

(Common English Bible)

Many times I have looked for something important only to realize it was in plain sight all the time. Where are my car keys? Right there on the kitchen counter. Where are my shoes? Right there on the floor of my closet. Where is my phone? Right there in the side pocket of my purse. Often I have looked in the space a time or two before realizing the missing item really is right where it should be and right front of me. How could I have so easily overlooked it the first two times?

After Sarai, Abram’s wife, treats Hagar harshly, the servant runs away. Perhaps she is out of sight of Sarai, but she is never out of God’s sight. God finds her and calls her by name. “Hagar! Where are you going? Go back home. I have a plan.”

I am reminded that I cannot hide from God any more than Hagar could. Even when I turn away and think I am hiding my pain or loneliness, I am always in plain sight and God always finds me where I am.  Our seeking God looks for me when others look right over me and really sees me when I try to hide my feelings or my longings or my needs. God also corrects my course and sends me back to get on track and do the work I was designed to do. Once that realigns, I am blessed in so many ways they can’t be counted!  Thanks be to God who sees me in plain sight!

El Roi, God who sees, each time you find me where I try to hide from you, I am blessed to be set right again. Thank you for your continuous love that keeps me aligned. Amen.

More to think about:
Psalm 8:4
Roman 11:33

(My apologies for being a day late with this week's Monday post. Vacation Bible School snuck into my life and gobbled up the whole day! Hopefully we will be back on track now!)
